Medx Diagnostics was established in 2018 through a joint venture between the Amhara regional state government and the US-based Biotechnology Lab. The company’s mission is to support the healthcare ecosystem by providing innovative solutions for quality patient care. Our first product, Onco E6, is manufactured in-house in Ethiopia and is a molecular marker used to detect cervical cancer in its early stages. This product can identify the presence of at least 1000 diseased cells in the cervix due to HPV 16 & 18.

Onco E6 is a valuable screening tool for physicians in hospitals and clinics, offering high positive predictive value, specificity, and optimal sensitivity for the main cancer-causing strains of human papillomavirus. The sample collection process and testing procedure involve a series of steps and give a red band appearing on the test strip, helpful for objective decision.  The entire process takes only one and a half hours to complete. This same-day result is crucial for healthcare service as a point of care.
